Somewhere in the Northwest part of the state, Farm Bill Biologist Tanner Swank is busy today setting back the clock on some OLAP property, creating new and improved habitat for everyone to utilize!
Looking to the horizon in the afternoons during these mild spring days, smoke plums can be seen rising up, marking areas that are resetting the clock. Nature doesn’t stop, so neither can the management!

Have you been following along on our PFQF Rooster Road Trip? If not, you should be! Go to www.roosterroadtrip.org and check it out! Yesterday’s blog by our OK Regional Rep Laura McIver is here:
Our Rooster Road Trip crew is creating memories of flushing roosters and coveys of quail behind beloved hunting dogs. These cherished moments fuel our drive as hunters for conservation and the outdoors.
For some, the passion for bird hunting was built with family and friends from a young age. For others, adoption of the upland lifestyle happens later in life, but not without some great challenges. Our own Laura McIver lays out the immeasurable impact bird hunting can have on a person's life, and the importance of breaking down potential barriers for new hunters.

Congratulations to QF member Hannah Hayes @hunnunuhh and her vizsla Cooper for a successful public-land hunt in western Oklahoma over the opening weekend. Hannah says this was Cooper’s second bird season, but first time to really find and point a covey of quail on his own. “Last year he was still a pup and not broke, but I still took him out every time I hunted,” says Hannah. “It wasn’t the best year for quail hunting so he didn’t get a ton of wild bird exposure. He had a handful of birds shot over him last year but didn’t play a part in getting the birds up for us. This year he is broke, has already seen over 15 coveys, and knows what he’s doing! I am excited to see how he does the rest of the season.” Photo by Benjamin Hale @benthebatman.lwvwl #quailforever #quailhunting #wingshooting #bobwhitequail #upland #uplandtradition #uplandhunting #birdhunting #publiclandcreator #publiclandproud #publicland #keepitpublic #thehabitatorganization
